AICTE launches faculty development programme to give domain knowledge, subject skills

NEW DELHI: The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has launched quality Continuous Professional Development Programmes (CPDP), to the Faculty Development Programme (FDP) to provide the faculty with domain knowledge and skills of the subject. The programme is launched by the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy. The last date to apply is May 9, 2022.

About three types of faculty development programmes have been launched by the AICTE. These are Basic ATAL FDP, Advance ATAL FDP and Institutional Building - leadership for Academic Excellence in HEIs. The Basic ATAL FDP programme is designed for assistant professors, associate professors, PhD scholars and PG students as well. The Advance ATAL FDP is for associate professors and senior assistant professors who have attended the Basic ATAL FDP. The Leadership for Academic Excellence in Higher Education programme is for those in positions such as directors, principals, deans, HoDs etc.

The programme will be conducted in a hybrid mode with online for theory and offline for practical, labs and experiential learning. The duration of all three AICTE faculty development programmes is two weeks.

The University Grants Commission (UGC), in a letter to vice-chancellors of all universities and principals of all colleges has asked higher educational institutions and colleges affiliated with them to implement the ATAL FDPs, by encouraging faculty members to learn new domains, and pedagogy and apply the knowledge. UGC has asked educational institutions to encourage faculties to apply for ATAL FDPs.
