NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in partnership with ministry of education’s innovation cell (MIC) inaugurated the Udyamotsav 2025. The event coincided with National Startup Day and was inaugurated at Amity University Noida with virtual participation from 13 institutes in India.
The ceremony was attended by TG Sitharam the chairman of AICTE, and Abhay Jere the vice chairman of AICTE and chief innovation officer of the ministry of education.
At the event, Sitharam launched a faculty development programme on innovation and entrepreneurship and also announced the ranking of Innovation and Incubation Centers (IICs) in AICTE-approved institutions.
"While addressing the audience, Sitharam praised India's history of innovation and highlighted the importance of a cultural shift towards entrepreneurship through mandatory research and development cells in all institutions. He said: "We are proud to see India emerge as the third-largest startup hub globally, with over 1.5 lakh startups," the official AICTE statement said.
He further highlighted Udyamotsav 2025 as India's dedication to nurture creativity and entrepreneurial success. Sitharam plans to continue the initiative every four months and aims to bridge the gap between academia and the startup ecosystem to promote problem-solving, experiential learning, and creativity.

"Udyamotsav 2025 provided a platform for over 300 startups, selected from 3,200 applications, to pitch innovative ideas to investors across 14 locations in India, in a Shark Tank-style format." the official AICTE statement added.
The initiative is a part of the MoE-AICTE investor community network aiming to strengthen India's entrepreneurial ecosystem and contribute to its economic growth. The teams in the finale will receive ongoing mentorship and support through AICTE's Indovation Centers.
"The Udyamotsav 2025 embodies India's thriving startup ecosystem and reinforces government initiatives to empower youth in innovation and entrepreneurship. The event signifies a significant stride towards positioning India as a global leader in innovation." the AICTE statement said.
