Globalink Research Internship 2027: Indian undergraduate students can apply for a fully funded 12-week research internship at Canadian universities.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has invited applications from eligible Indian undergraduate candidates for the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) 2027 programme. Eligible candidates can submit the application by September 16. The internship will provide selected candidates an opportunity to undertake a 12-week research project at Canadian academic institutions under the supervision of faculty members.
The Mitacs-AICTE partnership will support 300 highly qualified senior undergraduate candidates from India each year, with the first cohort under the renewed partnership scheduled to travel to Canada in summer 2027. Selected candidates will undertake research projects across disciplines, including engineering, science, mathematics, social sciences and other fields.

For Indian candidates, the programme is open to Indian nationals enrolled in eligible institutions. Candidates must be pursuing a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate-master's programme in engineering (BE) or technology (BTech).
Candidates must be at least 18 years old at the time of application. They must have completed at least two years of undergraduate study or be enrolled in the second year of their current programme. Candidates must also have one to three semesters remaining in their programme as of fall 2027.
Indian candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 70%. No English language proficiency test is required for Indian candidates.
Candidates are required to apply for a minimum of three and a maximum of 10 projects, with their selections spread across at least three different Canadian provinces.
They must also be proficient in the language of their selected research project, either English or French, and be available to complete a 12-week consecutive internship between May 1 and October 31, 2027. The internship must begin between May 1 and July 31, 2027.
The programme provides financial and academic support to selected interns. The award includes funding towards round-trip airfare to Canada, transportation from the Canadian airport to accommodation, housing and student enrolment fees.
Candidates will also receive a stipend towards food and incidental expenses, emergency health insurance for the internship period and support from student mentors on campus.
In addition, interns will have access to industry events, professional development courses and research opportunities at Canadian institutions.
The Globalink Research Internship is available at more than 70 academic institutions across Canada.
