NEW DELHI, May 3: In consideration of the recent occurence of cyclone Fani in the state of Odisha, Union Health Ministry has announced the postponement of AIIMS PG entrance examination which was scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2019. As per the ministry, the exam will be conducted for the affected candidates as soon as normalcy returns in the state. The union health secretary, Preeti Sudan announced the cancellation through a tweet. “AIIMS PG exam is scheduled on 5th May. Due to cyclone Fani, AIIMS Delhi is cancelling the exam centre in Bhubaneswar. Another exam will be conducted for students affected by this cancellation as soon as normalcy returns” says Sudan.The examination for students in other states will be conducted on the scheduled date.

Storm Going Strong

As per media reports, the cyclone has been severely destructive in Bhubaneshwar. Strong winds have ripped off a portion of the building of AIIMS, Bhubaneshwar. No casualties were reported from the location. The winds have so far recorded an increase in the velocity. Around 175kmp ferocious winds have crossed the state causing severe destruction on its path. With accurate disaster mitigation measures in place, not many casualties have been reported. As per a national daily, around 4,000 shelters, including 880 specially designed cyclone centres have been put in place for relief. Around 11 lakh people have already been evacuated before the cyclone hit the state which has been claimed as one of the biggest evacuation exercises in the history of disaster response in the country.


AIIMS PG 2019

AIIMS PG is a national level entrance examination for admission to postgraduate courses of Master of Surgery (MS), Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Dental Surgery (MDS), and MCh courses in the seven AIIMS institutions. The entrance exam is scheduled to be conducted on May 5, 2019 across 64 cities across the country. The entrance exam is the gateway to 464 MD/MS/DM/MCh and 14 MDS seats offered in seven AIIMS Institutes across India.
