NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 3 : The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has opened the application process for the AIIMS PG 2019 January session entrance from August 31, 2018 onwards. The application process has been opened in online mode and candidates interested in applying for admissions to the Postgraduate MD, MS, MCh, DM and MDS courses offered by the seven AIIMS campuses in New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh, need to ensure they complete the same by September 20, 2018.

In its official notice dated August 29, through which AIIMS New Delhi announced the opening of the AIIMS PG January applications, the institute also intimated about the introduction of a new Prospective Applicants Advanced Registration (PAAR) facility. As per the authorities, the PAAR facility “is being initiated for the Postgraduate Medical & Dental Entrance Examinations for the January 2019 session onwards and will be extended shortly to the MBBS Entrance Examination and other examinations subsequently”.

How the PAAR facility will work

The idea behind introducing the PAAR facility is to initiate the online registration of applicants well in advance and to reduce the number of applications which get rejected annually due to candidates filling their details incorrectly. PAAR will comprise an overarching two stage process, with the first step of Basic Registration applying to all exams to be conducted by AIIMS New Delhi and the second stage of Final Registration to be exam-specific.

Basic Registration will be open almost a year in advance before the concerned exam will take place, so that candidates will be able to fill details and upload images while also having adequate time to make corrections. Each candidate will be provided with a unique identification number at the time of registrations and will know well in advance whether their applications need any corrections or not. There will be no fees charged for this process and not all the required details will be collected.

Candidates should also note that the Basic Registration process will be closed from a specified duration before any particular exam session is to be conducted, be it AIIMS PG for January or AIIMS MBBS 2019. No candidate will then be allowed to appear for that particular session if they haven’t registered by that specified time.

Once the Basic Registration closes, the prospectus and list of tentative seats will be made available, allowing candidates to decide if they wish to appear for that particular session or not. Only candidates who wish to appear should then proceed with Final Registration. Those not wishing to proceed will then have their Basic Registration details saved, which they can use for subsequent sessions.

For Final Registration, candidates will be required to enter their qualification details, choosing their exam city and making the payment. Those found eligible will then subsequently be issued their admit cards for the upcoming session they have applied for. Candidates should note that they only have to submit the Final Registration for each exam they apply to, while their Basic Registration will stay the same. In the words of AIIMS New Delhi, “while Basic Registration is enduring, Final Registration is examination session specific”.

AIIMS PG January 2019 details

As of now, the institute has decided to open Basic Registration for MD/MS and MDS for the July 2019 session after the Final Registration for MD/MS and MDS for the January AIIMS PG 2019 session closes. The introduction of this innovative application strategy for the upcoming sessions is sure to come as a sigh of relief for candidates intending to apply to AIIMS, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
