AIIMS PG 2020: Over 30,000 candidates appeared for the entrance exam

Check NowNEW DELHI: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi on Friday, June 12, 2020, has mentioned that more than 30,000 candidates have appeared for AIIMS entrance exams for admission to various courses. AIIMS MD/MS, MDS, DM, MCh, BSc post-basic nursing, MSc nursing and fellowship entrance examination was held on June 11, 2020, across all states and four Union Territories of India. The exam was conducted following all COVID-19 guidelines issued by the central government.
According to a Press Trust of India report, a total of 33,491 aspirants took the entrance exam. Before the date of exam, Delhi High Court in the judgement of not postponing AIIMS PG exam mentioned that 40,000 aspirants had registered for the test.
Special measures at exam centres
AIIMS released a notice mentioning that special measures of social distancing, staggered entry, seating arrangements were implemented due to COVID-19 epidemic. Along with that, temperature checking, hand sanitization at the exam hall, no contact and use of masks were mandatory tasks to be implemented in the central institute.
The candidate registration and verification was done through digital technologies and the supervision was done by faculty members of medical colleges and institutes listed as the exam centres. While, the test was monitored through live CCTV streaming from all centres across the nation.
For the travelling convenience to candidates, the exam centres were increased to 157, which earlier was 60, with at least one centre in each state. More than 97 percent of the centres were allotted as per the city choice or within 100 kms. Also, for the time to travel to the centre, examination time was changed from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Change in exam pattern
Few days before the exam, the authority released a notice changing the question type to Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with a single best answer type pattern.
