AILET 2025: NLU Delhi revises eligibility criteria; reduces qualifying percentage by 5%

NEW DELHI: The National Law University (NLU) Delhi has updated the eligibility requirements for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2025, notably lowering the qualifying percentages for its Master of Legislative Laws (LLM) programmes. This revision is for both the one-year LLM (non-residential) programme and LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management. As per NLU Delhi official notice, to be eligible for the one-year LLM programme, candidates are now required to have completed their LLB degree.

If not LLB, candidates are required to hold an equivalent degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks to be eligible for the one-year LLM program at NLU Delhi. As per the official notice, candidates belonging to the reserved category such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability are required to have obtained at least 45% marks to be eligible. Earlier, it was 55 % for UR category candidates and 50% for reserved categories.

AILET 2025: Eligibility criteria for foreign nationals

Foreign nationals applying for the LLM program are required to have a minimum academic record of 55% or an equivalent grade in their LLB degree, as recognized by the UGC or the Association of Indian Universities. Additionally, foreign candidates will be assessed on their written and spoken English communication skills, followed by an interview to evaluate their eligibility for the LLM programme.

AILET 2025 Eligibility: Requirements for LLM in IP law and management

Applicants for the LLM in Intellectual Property Law and Management must have an LLB or equivalent degree from a recognized university, with at least 50% marks. Final-year LLB students graduating in 2025 are also eligible to apply. NLU Delhi stated that the other eligibility requirements for admission to the LLM programs will remain the same.

AILET 2025 exam on December 8

AILET 2025 registration commenced on August 1, 2024. As per the official notice, AILET 2025 registration will close on November 18, 2024. Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the BA LLB (Hons), BCom LLB (Hons), LLM, and PhD programs by visiting the official NLU Delhi website, nationallawuniversitydelhi.in. The AILET 2025 exam will be conducted on December 8, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm.

AILET 2025 exam pattern

The AILET 2025 exam will be conducted in offline mode. The AILET 2025 exam will have 4 sections- English, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning. There will be a total of 150 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will get 1 mark for each correct answer and 0.25 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. The duration of the AILET 2025 exam is 2 hours.
