NEW DELHI: Days after MHRD asked the executive members of Allahabad University to express their opinion on renaming the university, the 12 members out of 15 voted against the proposal. However, the remaining three members did not respond to the email seeking the opinion of council members.
The email was sent to the council members by AU Registrar prof N K Shukla, in response to a letter sent by MHRD on May 6 to the university administration.
“A university spokesperson said the executive council member could not meet due to the lockdown. So the opinion of its 15 members was sought through email,” reports The Indian Express.
