AUD suspends students involved in ‘severe’ bullying of female student at Karampura campus

Ambedkar University Delhi bans entry of students who allegedly harassed a girl student on campus and online, leading to her hospitalisation.
NEW DELHI : Following the alleged harassment of a girl student at Karampura campus, the Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) has suspended the students involved in the case and taken action against persons spreading ‘false propaganda’.
In an incident of severe harassment, a female student at the university’s Karampura campus was bullied by her classmates, as per a Times of India report. The level of bullying was so harsh that the student reportedly tried to take her life. She was allegedly harassed in the classroom as well as a social media group and the entire incident affected her mentally, such that she was hospitalised, the report said.
After receiving a complaint through email, the university administration reportedly initiated a probe and told the proctorial board to conduct a thorough investigation.
“The matter related to indiscipline which came to the notice of the University recently and on Sunday, March 02, were immediately referred to the Proctorial Committee by University and after a thorough investigation of the matter, the University directed to ensure appropriate action against those responsible as per the rules,” said AUD .

AUD’s action against harassment
The student and her mother were consulted by senior officials as soon as the matter came to their notice, the BR Ambedkar University added.
After a thorough investigation, the proctor committee has taken action as per the university rules on the subject of indiscipline. All the students involved in the case have been suspended immediately and they will be banned from entering the campus. The university has also taken action against those who spread false propaganda about the entire issue.
“Dr B R Ambedkar University Delhi has a zero tolerance policy towards any form of ragging or bullying and is committed to ensure strict action against those who tarnish the image of the university in any way,” AUD stated while informing about the action taken.
