NEW DELHI: Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur has expedited the expulsion of 891 students of the 2021-22 academic session who were given admission despite scoring below cut-off marks in NEET.
The probe in to the irregularities in the admission and counselling process led to a recommendation of a CBI inquiry into the case by Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Yogi Adityanath. The 891 students have been suspended from the institution, however, the college has also initiated the process to cancel their enrollment into the university altogether.
Registrar RB Singh said 12 affiliated colleges have submitted the list of 200 suspended students as of recent information and other colleges would be doing the same in a couple of days. "Out of the total 104 ayurveda, unani and homeopathy colleges (both government and private) in the state, 85 were affiliated with the university." said Singh.

The Union Ayush ministry probe found that the usual procedure of merit was not followed in multiple cases and that some students who did not even appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam (NEET) were allegedly given admission.
“The details of a candidate, who scored well, were changed and then they were replaced by non-deserving and fraudulent candidates. To ensure that the candidates whose details were changed were from outside the state to avoid complications and getting caught,” said a special task force (STF) official.
The complaint regarding such irregularities was originally filed by AYUSH director SN Singh at the Lucknow Hazratganj police station. “During the counselling for NEET 2021-22, ineligible candidates were given admission in under graduate courses. Kindly lodge a case against the agency – Uptron Powertronics in Lucknow and the vendor company named by it (V3 Soft Solutions Private Limited) whose representative is Kuldeep Singh,” stated the complaint lodged by Singh.
