Banaras Hindu University announces scholarships under Pratidana initiative

Banaras Hindu University: The scholarships will be awarded on merit-cum-means basis.
NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) announces three new scholarships, one each for the Faculty of Education, Central Hindu Boys School, and Central Hindu Girls School. According to the official press release, the university received donations to establish these scholarships, under its Pratidana initiative.
The institute said that these scholarships were funded by a donation from corporate leader Rahul Srivastava. The scholarships are named after Srivastava's relatives including Bindhyachal Devi, Madan Mohan Prasad, and Bimla Srivastava.
The Bindhyachal Devi scholarship is a Rs 25,000 annual scholarship for a first-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) special education student at the faculty of education. The Madan Mohan Prasad scholarship and Bimla Srivastava scholarship are both Rs 5,000 annual scholarships for one student each from class 10 at Central Hindu Boys School and Central Hindu Girls School respectively. The scholarships will be awarded on merit-cum-means basis.

The Pratidana initiative of Banaras Hindu University is aimed at mobilising and garnering support from alumni and well-wishers, to establish scholarships for meritorious students, need-based financial aid, enhance learning opportunities, and promote excellence in teaching.
According to the official press release, Rahul Srivastava called on the vice-chancellor of BHU, Sudhir Kumar Jain and conveyed his family’s admiration towards BHU and the role it has been playing not only in the field of education but also in shaping good citizens. The vice-chancellor acknowledged the kind gesture and generosity of Rahul Srivastava and expressed gratitude for the contribution made by his family.
