There is no restriction on the number of attempts for the UGC NET exam. Candidates aiming to qualify for the post of assistant professor can take the exam as many times as they wish. However, to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), candidates must be under 30 and can only attempt the exam while they meet this age limit.

The UGC NET 2024 result, as declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will be final. There will be no provision for revaluation of the UGC NET 2024 results.

According to the information bulletin, the marks obtained by candidates in category-2 and category-3 of the UGC NET will remain valid for one year from the date of the UGC NET 2024 result declaration.

A total of 11,21,225 candidates registered for the UGC NET June 2024 exam, which was cancelled due to allegations of a paper leak. Following directives from the union education ministry, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted a re-exam.

As per the UGC NET 2024 qualifying criteria, general category candidates with a score of above 40% marks in both papers taken together and SC, ST, and OBC with a score of 35% or above will be considered eligible for JRF and assistant professor.

Candidates waiting for the UGC NET June results 2024 must note that the number of candidates qualified for eligibility for assistant professor will be equal to 6% of the candidates who appeared for both papers based on their master’s degree or equivalent examination.

The UGC NET 2024 seat reservation criteria as established by the exam conducting authority are as follows. 

• 15% of the seats for scheduled caste (SC) candidates

• 7.5% of seats for scheduled tribe (ST) candidates

• 27% of the seats for other backward classes (OBC) non-creamy layer (NCL) candidates

• 10% of the seats are for general-economically weaker sections (General-EWS) candidates. 

• 05% of the seats in the above-mentioned categories are for persons with disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more disability. 

Candidates were able to apply for the UGC NET June 2024 exam at its official website, ugcnet.nta.ac.in.  The application for UGC NET June 2024 was accepted in an online mode only. Candidates had to register for the exam using their email ID and mobile number. 

Candidates from the general category must secure at least 40% marks in both papers, while those from reserved categories must score at least 35% marks. 

The UGC NET 2024 exam pattern consisted of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. Both papers had multiple-choice questions (MCQs), and candidates were given three hours for both papers. Moreover, the UGC NET exam pattern remains the same every year.

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has decided to admit students to its PhD programmes through the University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) result 2024 starting from the 2024-25 academic session. The university will discontinue the entrance test for research. 

Step 1: Distribution of Examinees in two shifts. Candidates will be distributed into two sessions randomly so that each session has approximately equal number of candidates. The UGC NET certificate for assistant professor and lectureship will be valid for a lifetime. However, the Junior Research Fellowship's UGC NET e-certificate has a validity of 4 years from the issue date.
