BHU: Classes suspended till May 15; Exams after June 30

NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has announced that all academic activity in the university, whether offline or online, will remain suspended till May 15. BHU has also announced that all exams will be held after June 30.

The decisions have been prompted by the sharp increase in the number of cases of COVId-19 across India and in Uttar Pradesh.

As per an order issued by the university, BHU will remain closed till May 15 and during this period even online classes will remain suspended.

The BHU order says: “The Vice-Chancellor chaired a high-level meeting regarding steps to be taken to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. As per the decisions taken in the meeting, Banaras Hindu University will remain closed till 15.05.2021. During this time, online classes will also be postponed.”

As per the order, university exams will not take place before June 30, 2021, and the decision regarding exams will be taken based on the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

“The office work will be conducted on a work from home basis,” reads the order.
