BHU faculty member selected for Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship

Suparna Basu from BHU has been selected for Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship and will work with USA, Bentley University, faculty on research.

NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Statistics faculty member, Suparna Basu has been selected for the Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship 2022-23 from February 1, 2023. Basu will be working with USA, Massachusetts, Bentley University, department of mathematical sciences, Tony Ng.

Basu will be conducting her research on Inferential statistics in presence of non-regular estimable conditions. Tony Ng is an expert on reliability, Censoring processes, non-parametric techniques, statistical modeling and inference and has published over 110 research papers in global journals. Ng is a part of the American Statistical Association and a senior elected member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the International Statistical Institute.

The fellowship will provide opportunities to talented faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capacities for 8-24 months. The fellows will have access to resources to be able to build long-term collaborative relationships with US faculty and institutions.

The Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship 2022-23 will be providing J-1 visa support, a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, round-trip economy class air travel, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance. They might also receive a dependent allowance and international travel may be provided for one accompanying eligible dependent provided the dependent is with the grantee in the US for at least 80% of the grant period (subject to availability of funds).
