NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University's (BHU) Shatrughan Singh Choudhary, a student from the geophysics department secured the first rank in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022. Professor Rajeev Bhatla, head of the geophysics department informed that the students have performed well in GATE 2022.
Shatrughan Singh Choudhary is a research assistant at the seismic imaging centre of the geophysics department at BHU. About 15 of the top 50 rank holders, and 4 in the top 10 ranks are also from the geophysics department of BHU.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur had declared the GATE 2022 result, along with GATE 2022 subject-wise cut-off and the list of toppers on March 16 on the official website at gate.iitkgp.ac.in.

GATE is a national-level entrance test conducted for getting admissions into the master's programme, or postgraduate engineering (ME, MTech) or analysis courses at top colleges in India such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies.
