NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will soon announce the schedule for the mop-up round of BHU UG admission 2023 to fill vacant seats in undergraduate programmes. Eligible candidates will be able to apply for the mop-up round on the official website,

Students will have to pay Rs 1,000 as the application fee for the mop-up round. “However, those candidates who are registering for the first time on the BHU Counseling portal will have to pay registration fee as per the admission registration rule of the university,” said BHU in an official statement.

The university informed that if a candidate is allotted his or her preferred seat, the amount will be adjusted in the programme fee whereas if a seat allotted candidate does not opt the seat, the fee will be forfeited. Moreover, if an applicant is not offered any seat, the amount will be refunded.

The eligibility criteria for the mop-up round is as follows:

  • Candidates who have not registered for counseling so far.
  • Candidates who registered for the BHU Counseling process but

i) Were not offered any seat during the regular round allotment.

ii) Were offered seats but could not deposit the fee or could not fill their preference entries

iii) Deposited the fee but got their admissions cancelled later

Students who are already holding a seat or have locked their seat in the counselling process are not eligible for this round. There will be no mop-up round for courses having practicals such as BFA, BPA etc.

The university advised aspirants to check the number of seats available in different programmes and categories on the counselling portal. “Seats will be allotted according to the merit and other prevailing rules of the University/GoI against the vacancies shown on the portal for the Mop-up round,” BHU further added.
