The Federation of University Teachers Association of Bihar (FUTAB) has urged the Government of Bihar to release the pensioners' funds due to university teachers and employees for January and February 2026.

Explaining the ordeal of university teachers and employees due to unpaid pension funds, the teachers’ association asked the chief secretary of the Government of Bihar why university teachers and employees, especially pensioners, are receiving “step motherly” treatment all the time.

The association wrote a letter to the chief secretary of the Bihar government over the non-payment of pensions for January and February 2026 to university teachers and employees, urging “immediate” release of funds.

'Pensioners suffering from cancer, heart disease'

“Poor family pensioners mostly belonging to low paid 4th grade employees are the greatest sufferers. There are many who's bread and butter depend on this. There are many who are suffering from cancer, heart disease or are on dialysis. They need timely pension more than the state money flowing like waste water elsewhere,” FUTAB said.

They also stated that the finance department is “sitting idle on this”, and due to non-disbursement of salaries, pension, the Holi celebration went without colours for teachers and employees.

FUTAB urged the chief secretary to personally intervene and ensure the early release of pending pensions for retired university teachers and employees.
