BITS Pilani admits 3,181 students for 2026; full scholarship for top BITSAT rankers up 62.5%

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, has concluded its admissions for the academic session 2026. A total of 3,181 students, including 2,723 male and 449 female candidates have secured a seat through BITSAT, including the 2+2 programmes.

The technology institute received more than 1.60 lakh unique applications, of which the incoming cohort represents approximately the top 2% of the BITSAT applicant pool, according to an official statement.

Notably, this year, the number of students joining BITS among the top 500 BITSAT rankers with full tuition fee support has increased by 62.5% compared with last year.

BITS Pilani 2026 Admission cut-offs for PCM, PCB courses

Moreover, there was an increase in admission cut-offs across Physics, Chemistry, and the Mathematics (PCM), and the PCB (Biology) programmes.

The BE pharmaceutical engineering programme recorded the lowest admission cut-off of 205 for the academic year 2026-27.

There was an increase in the lowest cut-off for PCM programmes, which rose to 220 from 203 last year. The BPharm courses also recorded an increase in the lowest cut-off from 151 to 200.

Furthermore, the BE Environmental and Sustainability Engineering course witnessed the lowest cut-off increase of 208 from 181 last year. The lowest cut-off for MSc Biology increased from 203 last year to 217 in 2026.

“During the 2026 admission cycle, BITS Pilani further strengthened its financial support initiatives. This year, the total upfront scholarship amount offered for a semester increased to Rs 11.513 crore, compared with Rs 10.131 crore in 2025,” the institute said.

BITS Admissions 2026: USA tops international applicants

A total of 39 students also received the Tuition Blind Scholarship, receiving 100% upfront tuition support for all four years. However, the selected students have to maintain the prescribed minimum CGPA.

Furthermore, BITS Pilani also expanded the eligibility for its Merit-cum-Need (MCN) Scholarship, increasing the annual parental income threshold from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh for the 2026 admissions cycle.

“The enhanced threshold is intended to extend access to financial support to a wider pool of meritorious students,” it added.

In addition, the technology institute also recorded growth in admissions through its International Student Admissions (ISA) mode. The number of students admitted through the ISA route increased from 143 to 150, with the United States of America (USA) continuing to be the largest source country for international admissions.
