BoG MCI Requests SC For Extension of UG, PG and SS medical admissions

Due to COVID-19 outbreak across the country, the working of the medical sector is facing severe unsettlings, and admissions are not acting as per the earlier schedule. The Board of Governors (BoG) in supersession of Medical Council of India (MCI) has filed three applications with the Supreme Court requesting for extension of due dates of deadlines related to course applications and PG medical admissions. MCI released an official notice on May 28, 2020, confirming the submission of applications in the Public Notice section.
Earlier, the apex court on February 20, 2018, had specified the time deadline for completion of MBBS, PG medical and Super-Speciality admissions in the country. To have leverage on the due date due to the lockdown scenario in the country, MCI has filled three applications relating to the matter.

For the information of medical college and institution, the law officer of MCI, Sikhar Ranjan has released the public notice on the official website of MCI i.e www.mciindia.org, which mentions:

Extension of the last date of LOP (Letter of Permission) for MBBS from May 31 to August 31, 2020 under section 10A of the Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act, 1956 for the Academic Session 2020-21;

Extension of the last date for issuance of LOP (Letter of Permission) for Super Specialty Courses under section 10A of the IMC Act, 1956 for the Academic Year 2020-21 from May 31 to July 15, 2020.

Extension of the last date for admission in Post Graduate courses (PG Broad Specialty) from May 31 to July 31, 2020.

It should be noted by medical candidates that PG medical admission across the country along with NEET UG entrance exam has been postponed due to the current Coronavirus situation. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced round two schedule for AIQ, deemed/central universities PG medical counselling.
