NEW DELHI: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) firmly rejected the complaints related to glitches in the portal and called it ‘baseless’ allegations. In the larger interest of 4.80 lakh candidates, the commission refused to postpone the BPSC 70th Combined Competitive Examination (BPSC 70th CCE) and reiterated that the preliminary exam will be held on December 13.

The clarification was issued by the commission on a day a delegation of protesting BPSC aspirants met senior officials of the commission demanding an extension of the exam date claiming that lakhs of students could not fill the forms due to server issues. They also urged for ‘one shift, one paper’ and opposed the normalisation method. Later, the BPSC said it will conduct the exam as per the old pattern and hold it on a single day.

It further clarified in the BPSC 70th CCE exam date 2024 has been fixed considering the pre-determined by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), state public service commissions and other examination institutions. The BPSC 70th CCE admit card 2024 will have to be carried to the exam centre on the day of the exam from 12 noon to 2 pm.

The commission said that the notification for the recruitment exam was published on August 23 and started from August 28 and closed on October 18.

Subsequently, the last date to register for the BPSC 70th CCE exam was extended till November 4. “A total of 4.00 lakh online applications were received during the entire period, out of which more than 1.30 lakh applications were received along with fees in the last 4 days, which makes it self-evident that the complaints related to the glitches in the server are baseless,” it said.

He further said if the exam date was extended, it would likely be pushed to April-May 2025, delaying the entire process by 5-6 months. "We would not be able to secure examination centres, invigilators, or other required logistics from January 2025 to March 2025, as several other exams, including the final exams for classes 10, 11, 12, and other competitive exams, are already scheduled," he explained.
