BPSC 72nd CCE prelims 2026 registration starts for 1186 posts; eligibility, selection process

BPSC has started online applications for 72nd CCE Prelims 2026 at bpsc.bihar.gov.in. The application fee is Rs 100 and the last date to apply is May 31
Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has started the registration process for the 72nd combined preliminary competitive examination 2026 on the official website of BPSC at bpsc.bihar.gov.in. As per the schedule, the last date to apply is May 31, 2026. The notification for this exam was released on May 5, 2026.
All candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 100 online, regardless of category. Applicants without Aadhaar will also have to pay an extra biometric fee of Rs. 200 as per the guidelines.
The age limit is 20 to 37 years for general male candidates, up to 40 years for women and backward classes, and up to 42 years for SC/ST candidates as on August 1, 2026.

BPSC 72nd CCE Prelims 2026: Revised vacancy details
The total number of posts has been reduced from 1,230 to 1,186 because 44 Sugarcane Officer posts were removed from this recruitment and will be filled separately under different rules. The revised vacancy details are:

Eligibility criteria and selection process
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university. However, certain posts like Financial Administrative Officer require a background in commerce, mathematics, statistics, or economics.
The selection process will be conducted in two stages: preliminary and main examinations followed by an interview.

BPSC 72nd CCE Prelims 2026: Exam pattern
The preliminary exam will consist of 150 objective-type questions with a duration of two hours and negative marking of one-third for each wrong answer. It will also include mandatory marking rules for unattempted questions. Candidates will be shortlisted for the mains in a ratio of ten times the number of vacancies.
The main examination will include a qualifying general Hindi paper, two general studies papers, an essay paper, and an optional subject MCQ paper. Marks obtained in the optional subject will not be considered for the final merit list.
