NEW DELHI: The Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, during the Budget 2021 speech, announced that 119 new English-medium schools and new boarding schools will be set up in the state.
The minister announced that the fees for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) students studying in these boarding schools will be borne by the government. Two new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) were also announced.
The government announced seven universities in six districts and three new womens’ universities in Raipur district.
Rs 371 crore is allotted for hostels for SC, ST students the minister said. Rs 281 crores was also allotted for infrastructure development of Swami Vivekananda Gurukul Vidyalayas.
Rs 1.80 crore has been budgeted for an innovation hub at the Chhattisgarh Regional Science Centre Society and Rs 20.25 crore has been allotted for infrastructure development in 40 polytechnics.
The minister said that Rs 2.8 crore has been sanctioned for building boys’ hostels and girls’ hostels in seven districts. The state government also announced Rs 5.85 crore for Padhna Likhna Abhiyan, a literacy programme.
The government has also made an outlay of Rs 732 crore toward Vishesh Poshan Aahar Yojana, a nutrition programme, for women and children. Rs 39 crore has been allocated to anganwadis.
