NEW DELHI: A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking direction to state boards, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to adopt an alternate mode of assessment in Class 10, 12 board exams 2022 instead of conducting offline exams, the Live Law reported.

The writ petition reportedly states that the boards have been silent over the ongoing situation and not taken a thoughtful decision regarding the examinations and declaration of Class 10, 12 results.

While some state boards like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh etc. have released board exams schedules, others are still discussing the ways forward. "The students are dissatisfied by this kind of behavior of State government and other boards and stressed and worried about their future and career,” the plea argued, as per the report.
The petition filed through child rights activist Anubha Shrivastava Sahai also seeks relief for conducting an improvement exam for those students who are not satisfied with the internal assessment.

It further sought to form a panel for deciding the formula of assessment of Class 10, 12 students including compartment exams and declaration of result on time.
"Students in all the States are very worried about conducting the 10th and 12th board examination due to high rate of growth of COVID-19 cases in all over Country along with the high possibility of 3rd wave which will affect the students very badly, and also due to incompletion of course in this pandemic situation,” the petition said, according to the report.

CBSE has announced it will conduct CBSE Term 2 exam from April 26, 2022. The CBSE Class 10, 12 term 2 date sheet will be soon released on the official website, cbse.nic.in. The board clarified that there will be no change in the exam pattern for the CBSE Class 10, 12 term 2 board exam and the question papers will be the same as that of the CBSE sample paper.
