NEW DELHI: For the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) Class 12 Term 2 exams 2021-22, the English syllabus will cover three sections – Reading Comprehension, Creative Writing Skills, and Literature.

The Class 12 CBSE Board exam 2021-22 exam and syllabus has been revised owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic situation. The syllabus has been divided almost equally into two sections for the two-term exams. The CBSE Term 2 examination will begin from April 26. The CBSE Term 1 question paper was multiple-choice questions (MCQ) type, whereas the CBSE term 2 question paper will be of subjective type.

While in the CBSE Term 1 exam, students were only given 90 minutes to finish the exam, the CBSE Term 2 exam duration will be 2 hours. The detailed list of topics of the Class 12 English syllabus for the term 2 exams is as follows:

The weightage for the CBSE Class 12 term 2 science exam will be 40 marks. Besides, a 10 marks ASL (Assessment in Listening and Speaking Skills) will be conducted. The same marking scheme has been followed in the term 1 English exam too. Hence, the grand total marks will be 100.

ASL Marking Scheme

  • Out of ten marks allotted for the term, 5 marks will be allotted for the project report, script, essay etc.and 5 marks for the viva.
  • The Project will be one small project work to be covered in the Term II. However, the planning for the project by students in consultation with the teachers can begin early.

CBSE Term 2 English Syllabus Details

  • Reading Comprehension (two passages): Unseen passage (factual, descriptive or literary, discursive or persuasive), Case based unseen (factual) passage
  • Creative Writing Skills: Short writing tasks - Formal and informal invitation, cards or replies to the invitation; Long writing tasks - Letter of application for a job, report writing
  • Literature: Book-Flamingo (Prose) - The Rattrap, Indigo; Book-Flamingo (Poetry) - A Thing of Beauty, Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers; Book-Vistas (Prose) - Should Wizard Hit Mommy?, On the Face of It, Evans Tries an O Level
