The students in the online petition called it a “difficult year” due to the ongoing lockdown and said that the shift to online classes does not help them prepare for board exams. The petition has been signed by over 150.
Due to the unavailability of necessary equipment like smartphones and internet connections, many students were unable to attend the online classes, the petition pointed out.
Several students’ family also suffered financial hardship due to the lockdown leading to undue pressure on them, the petition further said.
“It is unfair to conduct the board exams this year as students cannot put their best foot forward because it has been difficult to grasp concepts through online classes and lack of personal coaching at schools all year long,” the petition added.
As an alternative to the exams, the students have suggested the assessment based on an aggregate total of the internal marks.

The change.org petition also added that further delay of the CBSE 2021 board exams will lead to more pressure on students and in turn, hamper a regular academic year.
The online campaign site is flooded with many other petitions pertaining to various exams to be conducted this year.
Schools were shut down in March last year to curb the spread of coronavirus. After nine months, states are starting to reopen schools in a phased manner along with COVID-19 protocols in place.
