Careers360 Design Ranking 2021: NID Ahmedabad, IDC IIT Bombay, Srishti, Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bengaluru emerge on top.

NEW DELHI
: NID Ahmedabad is India’s best design institute according to
Careers360’s
maiden ranking of India’s design institutes. NID Ahmedabad scored 457.5 out of a possible 500 to take the pole position. Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay comes next with an overall score of 446.1, getting 200 out of 200 as its score for student quality.

Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bengaluru and Symbiosis International University, Pune come third and fourth in the top 5, followed by Pearl Academy, Mumbai. Though Pearl Academy does not confer degrees/diplomas approved by UGC/AICTE or any other regulatory authority, it has been included because of its academic reputation.
NID, Assam; MIT Institute of Design, Pune; NID Kurukshetra; CEPT University, Ahmedabad and NID Vijayawada also make it to the top 10 in that order.
Top states
With NID Ahmedabad setting the tone for design education in the country, the state of Gujarat has a big presence in the design domain. There are six institutions from Gujarat in the list of top 30 design institutions. The institutions other than NID Ahmedabad are: CEPT University, Nirma University and Anant National University, which are all located in Ahmedabad plus Parul Institute of Design, Vadodara and PP Savani School of Design, Surat.
Another state with a large number of ranked design institutes is Karnataka. They are: Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bengaluru; Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal; Jain University, PES University and Vogue Institute of Art and Design, all in Bengaluru.
Maharashtra also has five institutions in the list of 30. They are: Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay; Symbiosis International University, Pune; Pearl Academy, Mumbai; MIT Institute of Design, Pune; and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
There are three institutions each from Haryana and Punjab while Tamil Nadu has two while Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh have one institution each.
Other colleges offering related courses
The ranking of design colleges also includes a list of top 20 colleges that offer various programmes like fashion technology, fashion communication etc. It is dominated by National Institutes of Fashion Technology that account for 15 out of the 20 institutes listed.
