CAT 2018 begins; Approximately 2.41 lakh candidates appear

NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 25: CAT 2018, country’s most coveted management entrance exam, has started at 374 centres located in 147 cities across the country. According to IIM Calcutta, Approximately 2.41 lakh candidates are appearing for the exam this year. The first slot of the exam is being conducted from 9 AM to 12 PM. After that, there will be a gap of two-and-a-half-hour before the second slot begins at 2:30 PM. The reporting time for the first slot was 7:30 AM and the entry was closed at 8:45 AM. The reporting time for the second slot is 1 PM and the entry closes at 2:15 PM.

The forenoon session or slot 1 has commenced from 9 AM. The entry process started at 7.30 AM and the gates were closed at 8.45 AM. Latecomers were allowed till 9 AM but beyond 9 AM, candidates were not allowed to enter inside the exam centre. IIM Calcutta has made some restrictions regarding the dress code this year. Candidates are not allowed to wear or carry any kind of jewellery, metal objects, wristbands, accessory or baggage. Also, footwear and any kind of electronic gadget are not allowed inside the exam hall.
Before entering the exam hall, candidates have to go through a biometric process where thumb impression of the candidates is taken. Also, candidates without showing the CAT admit card and a photo identity proof (Voter id, Aadhaar id, Driving License, etc.) are not allowed inside the exam centre.
The exam is being conducted in online mode. Apart from 20 IIMs, 100 other B-schools across the country will accept the scores of CAT 2018 for their admission process. The candidates who qualify the exam, as per the cutoff of a particular institute, will be called for the selection rounds – WAT, GD and PI.
