CAT 2021 Exam on Nov 28: IIM releases CAT exam day guidelines for students

On the exam day, students must follow the guidelines for CAT 2021 by IIM, wear face masks and follow all the CAT exam instructions mentioned on the admit card.

NEW DELHI: The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 will be held by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad this Sunday, November 28. A total of 2,31,000 candidates had registered to appear for the CAT exam from across the country. The IIM CAT 2021 exam for MBA/ PGDM admission will be held in three sessions - the first session will begin at 8:30 am, the second at 12:30 pm and the last session will start at 4:30 pm. The CAT 2021 exam will be conducted in English and computer-based mode.

Since the CAT MBA entrance exam takes place amidst epidemics, special guidelines must be followed, including masks, sanitizers, and social distancing. Here are all the rules and guidelines one needs to know before entering the IIM CAT 2021 exam center -

CAT 2021 exam day guidelines

CAT 2021 timings: The first session will be held at 8.30 am, the second at 12.30 pm and the last will start at 4.30 pm. Students need to reach the CAT exam centre in advance to allow time for frisking, verification, and staggered entry. According to the rules, the entrance gates will be closed 15 minutes before the CAT 2021 exam. So, students are advised to reach the exam center one hour in advance.

Social distancing: All the students have to strictly follow the norms of social distance by ensuring 6 feet distance as soon as they arrive at the CAT 2021 exam centre and after the conclusion of the CAT exam 2021.

CAT Self-declaration form: Students appearing for the CAT 2021 examination must sign a declaration form attached with the CAT admit card on the day of the actual exam and present it to the authority at the examination centre.

Dress code: Socks, plain pullovers, or sweaters/ cardigans without any pockets are allowed inside the CAT exam hall. Students must not wear any jewellery or other items containing metal. Candidates who have a metal implant, pacemaker, etc. in their body should bring the relevant medical certificate to the examination center. Also, shoes with thick soles or other footwear and clothing with large buttons are not allowed inside the exam hall.

Pre-exam formalities: After entry, students will have to register, go through frisking, document verification, and an IRIS and photo registration. The CAT 2021 exam will begin when the invigilator will inform the students to log in to the console.

What to carry to CAT test centers?

  • CAT 2021 admit card

  • Hand gloves

  • Face Mask

  • Personal hand sanitizer (50ml)

  • Transparent Water Bottle

  • Identity proof such as Aadhaar card, Voter ID card, Driving license, Passport

NOTE: A writing pad and pens will be provided to the students for rough work, which will have to be returned after the test. Students should clearly write their name and CAT registration number on the writing pad.

Items not to carry on CAT exam day: Electronic gadgets, mobile phones, watches, stationery items, calculators, papers, goggles, wallets, etc. will not be allowed inside the CAT test centre.

CAT 2021 will be held in three sessions, including data interpretation and logical reasoning, verbal ability and reading comprehension, and quantitative ability. Students will get 40 minutes (53 minutes and 20 seconds for PwD candidates) for answering questions under each section.
