NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow will release the official Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023 notification by tomorrow, July 30. While the CAT exam 2023 registration is likely to begin on August 4 the exam will be held tentatively on November 26. CAT 2023 Notification Live

Interested and eligible candidates can check the CAT notification 2023 on the official website, iimcat.ac.in. It is essential for all candidates to carefully review the eligibility criteria before filling out the CAT 2023 application form. Any discrepancy found during the verification process may lead to disqualification.

The CAT exam is a crucial step for students aspiring to pursue management programmes at prestigious IIMs and other top B-schools across India. Eligible candidates can start their preparations as the CAT 2023 exam date approaches.

CAT 2023: Who all can apply for the exam

The CAT 2023 eligibility criteria are as follows:

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with at least 50 percent marks or an equivalent CGPA (45 percent for SC, ST, PwD candidates). The degree should be awarded by a recognized university or educational institution.
  • Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for the CAT exam.
  • Reservation Policy: The CAT 2023 eligibility criteria also adhere to the reservation policy set by the Government of India. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories are eligible for relaxation in the qualifying marks.
  • Final Year Students: Final year students who are yet to receive their bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply for the CAT exam. However, they must complete their degree requirements by the specified date as mentioned by the respective IIM.

CAT aspirants who have academic backlogs during their graduation can also apply and register for the CAT 2023 exam.

CAT 2023: Check who is not eligible to apply

Aspiring candidates for CAT 2023 should be aware of the conditions under which they may be considered ineligible to apply for the exam. Here are some factors that could disqualify a candidate:

  • Incomplete Professional Degree: If a candidate is in the process of completing their professional degree (CS, CA, ICWA) without having obtained their bachelor's degree, they are not eligible to apply for CAT 2023.
  • Pending Bachelor's and Professional Degree: Candidates pursuing both a bachelor's degree and a professional degree but have not yet completed both are also not eligible to apply for CAT 2023.
  • Low Academic Scores: Candidates whose score in their bachelor's degree falls below the required minimum of 50 percent (45 percent for SC, ST, PwD candidates) are ineligible to apply for the CAT exam.
  • Non-Recognized Degree: If the candidate's degree is not recognized by MHRD, AICTE or UGC, they will not be considered eligible to appear for the CAT examination.
