NEW DELHI: The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 saw an attendance of approximately 89% this year. As per the data shared by the institute, around 2.93 lakh candidates appeared for the test out of 3.29 lakh registered eligible candidates. The exam was held at 389 centres across 170 cities in India.
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta conducted the CAT 2024 on November 24, 2024 in three slots. The first shift took place from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by the second shift from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and the third shift from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
The exam had three sections including Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA).
CAT 2024 saw changes in the exam pattern, with the total number of questions increasing from 66 to 68, with the addition of two questions in the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section. Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA) had 22 questions each.

“The duration of the test was 120 minutes (160 minutes for PwD candidates). The time allotted for each section was 40 minutes (53 minutes and 20 seconds for PwD candidates),” the official media release read.
Last year, a total of 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, with an overall attendance of 88%. The test was conducted at 375 examination centres across 167 cities in India.
The institute will soon issue the CAT 2024 answer key on the official website at iimcat.ac.in. IIM Calcutta has announced that the CAT result 2024 is expected to be declared in the second week of January.
