The CBSE Board conducted surprise inspections in schools situated across Delhi and Rajasthan and issued show cause notices to 27 schools in this region in the month of September. Such schools were given a 30 days time period to respond. After reviewing the responses submitted by the schools, the board disaffiliated 21 schools, mostly from Delhi, and downgraded 6 schools from senior secondary to secondary level.
The affiliation of 21 schools were withdrawn due to various reasons such as huge number of dummy and non-attending students in higher secondary classes, non-availability of proper records, student-teacher ratio.
The board found that the schools were not maintaining records of admission withdrawal, register, admission forms, attendance register of scholars, acquaintance roll, service books, leave records. The inspection also revealed that the section-teacher and teacher-pupil ratio was not as per the CBSE norms.
