NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a schedule of activities related to direct admissions in Classes 10, 12, change in subject, submission of List of Candidates (LOC), registration of Class 9, 11 students, and more for board exams 2024.

The board said that its main responsibility is to conduct secondary and senior secondary exams and in order to hold them successfully, it issues notifications and circulars as and when required. “This year, an amended schedule is being issued to be strictly followed by the schools so that other activities of the examinations - 2024 could be completed on time,” CBSE said.

The board added that it has also released a document on framework and guidelines for Class 10, 12 certificate exams for guidance of schools. It asked principals of schools to go through the circular and act in a manner to submit LOC on time and correct.

According to the schedule, the submission of LOC for Class 10 and 12 will commence from Augtust 14. The last date to submit the LOC without late fees is September 13. The submission of the list with late fees will be done from September 14 to September 22.

Schools can give direct admissions in 10th and 12th up to August 31 only. During this period, schools will also have to compile data of Children With Special Needs (CWSN) and send it to the regional office for approval of concessions, if any. They will also be required to submit CWSN student details in the LOC portal.

In order to change the subject, students or their parents will have to apply by August 31. Schools will analyse the requests and send them to the regional office for approvals. Upon receiving approval from CBSE, schools will have to fill the correct subject name of the candidate in the LOC portal.

Those students participating in sports and olympiad activities will have to send their requests by December. The schools will be required to request the Sports Authority of India or Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education for their recommendations. The board asked schools to send all the details by December 31. “No request will be entertained after 31st December, 2023,” it stated.

Regarding attendance shortage cases, CBSE asked schools to consider student’s attendance up to January 1, 2024 and send the cases of attendance shortage to the office by January 5. Schools will receive board approvals by January 31. Moreover, schools have been asked to send requests related to wards of armed forces and para military forces martyred in the line of duty by January 31.
