NEW DELHI: Central Board Secondary Education has released the circular regarding the difference between major and minor subjects of CBSE board exams 2022. The board has classified subjects on the basis of the number of candidates appearing in the subject for term 1 examination.

The circular states, “The classification of subjects has been done purely on administrative ground for the purpose of conduct of Term 1 Examinations. The classification of subjects This has been done based on the number of candidates appearing in the subject and in no way reflects the importance of subjects as Major or Minor.”
The minor subjects include regional languages, applied mathematics, and English elective etc. All minor subjects carry equal importance from an academic point of view. All these subjects have been kept under the minor subject category for the purpose of administrative convenience in relation to the logistics required for the conduct of examinations.
Recently, the board has released the CBSE minor subject date sheet. As per the schedule, the Class 10 exams for minor subjects will commence from November 16, and Class 12 exams from November 17. While the Class 10 major subject exams will be held between November 30 and December 11, the Class 12 major exam will be conducted between December 1 and December 22, 2021.
