The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct practical examinations for compartment category students from July 10 to July 15, 2025. According to the official circular, the CBSE practical exam will be held for students placed in the compartment category due to a repeat in practical (RP) or repeat in both theory and practical (RB) in any subject.

CBSE has clarified that Class 12 students placed in the RP category will appear only for the practical exam, with their previous theory marks being retained. On the other hand, Class 10 students in the RB category will have to appear for both theory and practical exams during the supplementary session.

For Class 10, candidates who were absent for the internal assessment will be given pro-rata marks based on their performance in the theory exam of the supplementary session. Internal assessment will not be held during the supplementary process, as it is a year-long exercise.

Venue for CBSE practical exams announced

The CBSE compartment category practical exam 2025 for regular candidates will be held in their respective schools. For private candidates, the exams will be conducted at their theory exam centres.

“In case in any examination centre/school, the facility for practical exams in a particular subject(s) is not available, the concerned Regional Office may make necessary arrangements for conducting practical examination in that subject(s) in a nearby examination centre/school,” the circular said. External examiners for Class 12 will be appointed by the Regional Offices, while internal examiners will be designated by schools or examination centres.

Marks to be uploaded on same day

CBSE has directed that marks awarded in the CBSE practical exams be uploaded to the Board’s portal on the same day. Once uploaded, the marks will be treated as final and no request for changes will be entertained.

Students will have to report to their schools or examination centres by July 7 with a copy of their result and admit card. Schools will communicate the date and time of the practical exam, and students are expected to follow the schedule issued by the centre.

Schools and examination centres have been asked to prepare subject-wise lists of candidates and ensure timely communication of exam dates. Regional Offices will appoint external examiners for Class 12 and oversee the conduct of exams. They will also be responsible for ensuring that marks are uploaded without delay and that answer books reach the respective Regional Offices after the exams.
