NEW DELHI, JULY 10: Ramesh Pokhriyal, Union HRD minister, informed during a Lok Sabha session on Monday, July 08 that the funds will be granted to the education sector. Funds will be provided to the schools from the session 2019-20 for encouraging the teachers to act as the best counsellor in schools. This initiative has been taken up to inspirit the teaching profession in the said sector.

According to the previously issued letter by the Board, "Experiential Learning is the theme for the new academic year 2019-20. In simple terms, experiential learning is the process of "learning by doing" and is a crucial input for making learning joyful."

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) undertook several steps to make the curriculum welcoming and friendly for students. Guidelines have been issued to come to terms with a curriculum in a student-friendly manner with the promotion of practical learning through a focus on reflections and creating valuable knowledge.

"Students should learn from what they study and use it. It should not be rote learning for them, which they only learn for exams and then forget," said Anurag Tripathi, CBSE secretary. He further added that the board will push for academic improvement and put forth a policy for the same soon.

Teachers have been directed to follow ‘inclusive principles’ and not tag any child as 'slow learner' or 'bright student', or 'problem children'.

CBSE has pioneered Experiential Learning from 2019-20 session onwards. Some of the changes that will be implemented in the schools are mentioned below:

1. Curricular activities in the schools must be planned in a way that students connect their lives and learning with it.

2. The outcomes of learning developed by NCERT will help the teachers to shape their teaching in a desired and friendly manner and ensure quality education.

3. To stimulate life skills and value education, CBSE has coordinated health and physical education with academics. Therefore every school must dedicate at least one period for sports in order to freshen up the students and make the environment lighter for them.

NCF has also shown concern regarding the issue of anxiety and stress in children. Thus, this body encourages the school to provide professional counsellors in order to help students regarding the same and make the environment of the school light and student-friendly.
