NEW DELHI: The government is planning to make a fixed calendar for India’s largest entrance exams – Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), and Common University Entrance Test (CUET) from 2023, the Times of India reported. The Ministry of Education is likely to announce the new plans this week to streamline the process and avoid confusion, as per the report.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the JEE Main exam 2023 notification with JEE Main 2023 exam dates and registration dates this week, the report said.

An NTA official reportedly said that JEE Main 2023 exams will likely be conducted in mid-January and April, CUET UG 2023 likely in April third week and May first week, whereas NEET UG 2023 is expected in May.

The official also stated that the demands of students to hold entrance exams in April are difficult to fulfill as it would lead to delay in the commencement of the next academic year. JEE Main 2023 aspirants requested the NTA to conduct the exam in April or May as droppers did not get enough time to prepare.

In November, NTA reportedly formed two expert committees after the exams conducted in 2022 were marred by technical difficulties. While one committee is working on the annual schedule of JEE Main, CUET, and NEET to avoid dates clash, other committee will review the infrastructure of examination centres. The panels include experts from the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), central universities, and officials having experience of conducting exams.
