NEW DELHI: The Chandigarh University has announced the establishment of India’s first AI-integrated campus in Unnao, located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The AI-integrated campus, named Chandigarh University Uttar Pradesh, will commence operations in the 2025-26 academic session. The Chandigarh University AI-integrated UP campus will offer 43 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across six disciplines- engineering, business administration, health and life sciences, humanities, liberal arts, and legal studies.
The new campus will incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its academic framework, focusing on multidisciplinary education and equipping students with skills aligned with the demands of AI-driven industries.
The announcement was made at a press conference organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. UP’s higher education minister, Yogendra Upadhyaya, officially launched the campus web portal and prospectus. Other attendees included Chandigarh University chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu, MP Mukesh Jain, Capgemini executive vice president, CU pro-chancellor Himani Sood, and CU managing director Jai Inder Singh Sandhu.
Uttar Pradesh is advancing its economic and technological initiatives, aiming to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2025. During the announcement, Upadhyaya highlighted the campus as a part of broader efforts, including the development of India’s first AI City in Lucknow, which is expected to create an ecosystem for AI innovation and economic growth.

The AI City project, spanning 70 acres, is projected to generate 50,000 jobs over the next five years, contributing to the development of AI professionals and businesses while complementing the educational advancements driven by the new campus.
Upadhyaya said, “The establishment of Chandigarh University’s campus in Uttar Pradesh is a proud achievement. It reinforces our mission of fostering technological advancement and aligns with the creation of India’s first AI City in Lucknow. This initiative will not only elevate the education sector but also drive economic growth by creating a hub for AI innovation.”
Chandigarh University has announced scholarships totaling Rs 40 crore through the Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test (CUCET) 2025. Additionally, the CV Raman Scholarship, of Rs 3 crore, has been introduced to support aspiring researchers and promote scientific innovation.
Managing director Jai Inder Singh Sandhu said, “We aim to create an education system that integrates AI not just in STEM but across disciplines such as humanities, law, and management. This holistic approach ensures our students are equipped to excel in an AI-driven world.”
