Chhattisgarh Budget 2024:Education sector has seen an increase of almost 16% in allocation. School education gets Rs 21,489 crore.

NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh will implement a new Higher Education Mission for research, innovation and quality upgrades of higher educational institutions and for “strengthening provisions” in line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), finance minister OP Chaudhary today announced during his budget speech.
In the Chhattisgarh Budget, the education sector has seen an increase of almost 16% in outlay compared to the current financial year 2023-24, the finance minister said. School education has received Rs 21,489 crore, higher education has received Rs 1,333 crore and skill development has received Rs 690 crore.
The Chhattisgarh Budget has also allocated Rs 3,952 crore for development and maintenance of government higher secondary schools. Of which, Rs 100 crore fund will be utilised for creating buildings in 57 government high schools and 39 higher secondary schools that lack infrastructure.

The minister also said that Chhattisgarh technology institutes will be set up across the state modelled around the national-level technological institutions. The first phase of establishing the technology institutions in Jashpur, Bastar, Raigarh, Kabirdham, and Raipur will begin from this year.
Additionally, the budget has allocated Rs 34.90 crore for creating a science city and Rs 2 crore for creating an astro park.
The Budget also has an outlay of Rs 2 crore to set up a Central Instrumentation Facility in Chhattisgarh and a fund of Rs 10.5 crore has been allocated for infrastructure upgradation of 20 government colleges.
