Chhattisgarh hikes PG medical, dental stipend; first-year residents to get Rs 85,050 from Oct 1

The Chhattisgarh government has increased the monthly stipend for postgraduate (PG) medical and dental students studying in government medical and dental colleges in the state. The Chhattisgarh medical PG stipend will come into effect from October 1, 2026, according to an order issued by the state Medical Education Department.

As per the government order, first-year PG medical and dental students will now receive Rs 85,050 per month, while second-year students will be paid Rs 90,027. The monthly Chhattisgarh medical college PG stipend for third-year students has been revised to Rs 93,996.

The Medical Education Department said the stipend was revised after considering a proposal received from the Directorate of Medical Education on August 13, 2026.

Chhattisgarh PG medical stipend 2026

According to the order, the stipend for first-year PG medical students has been increased from Rs 67,500 to Rs 85,050. Second-year students, who were receiving Rs 71,450, will now get Rs 90,027 per month.

For third-year PG medical students, the state government has increased the monthly stipend from Rs 74,600 to Rs 93,996.

Chhattisgarh PG dental stipend revised

The government has also announced a substantial increase in the stipend paid to PG dental students. First-year PG dental students will now receive Rs 85,050 per month, compared with the existing Rs 53,500.

The monthly stipend for second-year PG dental students has been revised from Rs 56,700 to Rs 90,027, while third-year students will receive Rs 93,996 instead of the existing Rs 59,200.

With the revision, PG medical and dental students in the same year of study will receive an equal monthly stipend.
