Chitkara University hosts Fashion Future Forward Conclave to showcase sustainable, digital trends

Chitkara University: The two-day conclave discussed sustainability, digital marketing, the metaverse's impact on fashion, and global industry trends.
NEW DELHI: Chitkara University's department of fashion design, Chitkara design school, hosted a two-day fashion future forward conclave on its campus in Chandigarh. The conclave aimed to bridge the gap between academia and the professional fashion world.
During the conclave, the students of Chitkara University raised a dialogue on the future of sustainability, digital green marketing and online retail, the rise of athleisure wear, metaverse and global future directions in the fashion industry. Fashion design students also actively participated in exploring topics like evolving design practices, biodegradable materials, and 3D modelling.
The conclave discussed the four-year Bachelor of Design (B Des) fashion design programme that integrates the principles of design, textile and apparel technology into dynamic fashion scenarios to impart comprehensive fashion education. The conclave also talks about student's practical experience, gained through assisting designers at national fashion events like FDCI x Lakme fashion week.
“To acquire specialized knowledge, the program would allow students to nurture their academic interest in fashion studies, along with personal growth and awareness. The emerging fashion professionals would develop skills and competencies required for robust design practice,” the an official statement by the university read.

Speaker's views on fashion conclave
The conclave featured keynote speakers including Ashish N Soni, design director at Ikos Designs Pvt Ltd; Narendra Kumar, creative director at Amazon; Urvashi Kaur, creative director at Ka-Sha, India; Karan Berry, creative director at Karleo couture; Bespoke footwear label AKA Nitin Kapoor, co-founder of Iba Crafts; and Mahima Prasad, manager at Ajio Luxe, Reliance brands.
The design director of Ikos designs pvt. ltd, N Soni talked about the student's enthusiasm and their keen interest in knowing about the industry experience. “The kind of questions posed was very interesting and I think based on that there is a huge potential,” he said.
Speaking about the conclave, Kumar said, “There is always a divide in academia and professional practice. Events like these are helpful for both the students and us industry experts to have these conversations. Some of the questions that the students had prepared challenged us to put on our thinking hats.”
The guest speakers praise Chitkara University for developing highly industry-oriented fashion designers with a dynamic and research-informed curriculum aiming to develop highly competent, ethical and employable individuals.
