NEW DELHI: The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced changes in exam pattern and syllabus for Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2024) for admission to undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) law courses. As per the revised pattern, the number of questions have been reduced for CLAT exam 2024.

The decision to change the CLAT exam pattern was taken to make the exam a more student-friendly and accessible examination, the official statement read. The officials earlier announced that the CLAT 2024 exam will be conducted on December 3, 2023.

“The Undergraduate (“UG”) CLAT 2024, for admissions to the Undergraduate courses that commence in the Academic Year 2024-2025 at the participating National Law Universities shall comprise 120 (One hundred and Twenty) questions instead of 150 (One hundred and Fifty) questions as in previous years,” the consortium of NLUs said.

The national-level law entrance exam is conducted for admission in 22 National Law Universities (NLUs). The duration of the exam, however, remains the same. Candidates will get two hours to complete the test like previous years.

The CLAT question paper consisting of 120 questions will be divided into five sections - English Language, current affairs including general knowledge, legal reasoning, logical reasoning, and quantitative techniques.

For CLAT PG 2024, there will be no change in syllabus and exam pattern, it informed.

“The Consortium of NLUs shall make every effort to assist candidates in preparing for CLAT 2024, and extend any support it can to make CLAT 2024 a student-friendly and accessible examination,” it added.
