CLAT Allotment List 2026: Important pointers
Some important pointers for the CLAT 2026 exam by Consortium:
- Always log in only from the official CLAT portal—do not rely on unofficial list screenshots or forwarded PDFs.
- Documents are to be uploaded in the specified format and size without deviation; scans that lack clarity may result in rejection.
- When preferences are locked in, they cannot be altered at any point.
- The options Freeze, Float, and Exit have to be chosen during the designated time span; if this is not done, removal is automatic.
- It is essential to adhere to the deadlines for confirmation fees and university fees.
- It is essential for candidates to verify the validity and current status of their category, domicile, and reservation certificates.
- After every allotment round, review the NLU-specific instructions to ensure you don’t miss campus deadlines.
January 7, 2026 | 11:21 AM IST
Candidates ask 'What happens if I don’t secure a seat in CLAT 2026 round 1?'
Not securing a seat in Round 1 doesn’t mean you’re eliminated from the process. Due to vacancies arising when others float, exit, or fail to pay their fees, many students receive their first allotment only in rounds 2, 3, or even 4. You must maintain an active role in counselling, monitor each round closely, and prepare to reply without delay.
January 7, 2026 | 11:04 AM IST
Candidates ask 'What to do after the publication of CLAT 2026 first merit list?'
After the merit list is published, the candidates should take the following steps:
- After the publication of the merit list, candidates must select either the freeze/float option or the exit option.
- The freeze option is available to candidates who are content with their designated seat or who have received their top choice on their NLU preference list.
- Candidates of this kind are required to pay a confirmation fee of Rs. 20,000. They will not advance to the next rounds.
- Those candidates who were not allocated their first-choice preference may opt for the float option. By paying a confirmation fee of Rs. 20,000, they can secure the allotted seat. Nonetheless, candidates of this kind will be taken into account for additional counselling rounds and given an upgrade to a higher NLU preference in the event that seats become available.
- Candidates opting for the exit option will not be considered for admission.
- Document verification and payment of university fees are required to be completed by the allotted candidates. The confirmation fee is deducted from the total university fee that the candidate must pay.
