NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee on Tuesday announced that a student who returned from Japan has tested negative for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
The 26-year-old research scholar returned from Japan on March 3 and the test was conducted by the National Centre for Disease Control at New Delhi.
IIT Roorkee also said that “four of eight students who were quarantined on suspected COVID-19 infection have returned to the hostel”. The remaining four will continue to be quarantined till March 20.
The institute had earlier suspended all classes till March 31 as a precautionary measure against the spread of the virus.
India currently has 120 active cases of COVID-19.
