COVID-19: AICTE issues guidelines for approved institutions

AICTE’s SOPs on COVID-19 include thermal screening, sanitization, use of face mask, hand-washing, physical distancing, cleaning of premises etc.

NEW DELHI: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to be followed by all approved institutions for COVID-19. “Though the spread of Covid-19 virus has been contained to a great extent but it is still prevalent and it is therefore necessary that proper preventive measures and covid-19 appropriate behavior be continued in full earnest,” said AICTE in an official notification.

AICTE’s guidelines on COVID-19

Some of the guidelines listed by the Council to be followed by all institutions are:

  • Thermal screening of students and staff, sanitization and use of face mask, cover should
  • be ensured at all entry and exit points.
  • Frequent washing of hands and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer must be mandatory.
  • Physical distancing norms to be followed by all the students and staff
  • Mandatory cleaning and regular disinfection of the premises and buses etc. must be ensured.
  • Students and staff having symptoms of covid-19 should be isolated and testing should be carried out.
  • Students or staff whose family members are infected should not join the institution physically
  • Installation and use of Aarogya Setu App.
  • For all the institutions, conducting of physical classes to be done as per the decision of the respective states, union-territories.
  • Online teaching-learning arrangements should be made for international students who are unable to join the programme due to travel restrictions or visa-related issues.
  • Crowding must be avoided at entry, exit and all other points including cafeteria, canteen
  • Biomedical disposal of face masks, cover and other related waste should be ensured.
  • Temperature setting of all the AC devices in the range of 24 to 30 degree celsius.
