Each proposal will have a maximum cap of Rs 10 lakh worth of computational resource. The allocation period can be extended to six months after evaluating the performance of the projects.

The institute said that it will “provide basic and limited support to them, which will include instructions on job submissions or smooth functioning of these projects” after selection of the proposals.

Speaking about this initiative, IIT Delhi director V Ramgopal Rao said: “In these difficult times, sharing of resources is important in order to address the infrastructure requirements of researchers working on the Corona epidemic... It is important for scientists to collaborate with each other given the urgency of the situation.”

IIT Delhi has also opened up its supercomputer for researchers on a payment basis.

The proposals have to be submitted by April 15. The evaluation will be done on a first-come-first-serve basis.
