NEW DELHI:The Manipur Government has decided to cancel Class 11 exams and promote students based on their internal marks in all higher secondary schools in the state.

The decision was taken amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Educational institutions across the country were forced shut from March 16 onwards due to the pandemic.

The Council of Higher Secondary Education in Manipur, in a notification released on Tuesday, said: “With respect to resolution 1.1 of the examination committee meeting held on April 28, the Class 11 examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education be done away with in the view of the outbreak of coronavirus disease across the whole globe.”

It said that “Class 11 students who are in possession of admit cards” issued by the council will be promoted to Class 12 based on the term test performance.

The Class 11 exams, initially scheduled from February 17 to March 26, were suspended on February 19 as question papers of five major subjects were found to be leaked.
