Delhi Govt asks all schools to upload Covid vaccination status of students daily
The Covid-19 vaccine option for 15-18 age group would only be Covaxin, according to guidelines issued by the Union health ministry.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has on Tuesday instructed all school principals to upload the vaccination status of students under the 15-18 age group daily by 4 pm. The Covid-19 vaccination for children began on January 3 and the state governments launched the drive in view of the recent global surge of COVID-19 and Omicron cases.
“Heads of Schools (Govt/Govt. Aided/Private Unaided) shall daily upload the status of vaccinated school students on the Google tracker by 4 PM without fail,” the Directorate of Education’s (DoE) circular read.
Saying that the head of all the schools has an important role to play in ensuring prompt coverage of this age group, the Delhi government directed principals to identify a nodal in-charge of the school to coordinate the activity.
Booking can be done on the CoWin portal school ID card will also be accepted as ID proof for Covid vaccination registration, the notice said. However, all eligible beneficiaries can also walk in for registration to any nearby designated 15-18 years Covid vaccination centre to get vaccinated.
“In case a school itself has been identified as a Covid vaccination centre for 15 to 18 age group, parents may accompany the children to the school & facilitation in terms of provision of a separate room, staff for queue management & verifier should be provided by the Head of the Schools,” the notice added.
The vaccine option for this age group would only be Covaxin, according to guidelines issued by the Union health ministry on December 27. According to the guidelines, they can self-register online through an existing account on CoWIN or can also register by creating a new account through a unique mobile number as is the case with all other categories of beneficiaries.
