NEW DELHI
: The Punjab School Education Board has decided to cancel exams for Classes 5 and 8 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The PSEB results for both classes will be released on the basis of exams which were held earlier. The nation-wide lockdown imposed to control the spread of COVID-19 began on March 25.

Summer vacations advanced
The lockdown and curfew in Punjab have been extended till May 1, 2020. Punjab is the second state to extend lockdown.
Along with this, the board has brought forward the summer vacations for school children. The education minister of Punjab announced that the summer vacations will start on April 11, 2020, and will continue till May 10. Thus, the students will be able to make up for the loss of study time now.
Keeping in purview the #COVID19 situation, Punjab Govt has decided to prepone summer vacations of schools, which shall extend from April 11-May 10. The students of PSEB Class V & VIII shall be promoted based on Exams & Assignments given before the lockdown. #PunjabFightsCorona

Exam details
The PSEB has conducted three examinations for Class 5 students and the remaining two exams have been cancelled. So, the Class 5 results will be released on the basis of the three exams conducted before the lockdown.
All theory exams of Class 8 were conducted before the lockdown began. But practical exams were pending which have now been cancelled. The PSEB results for Class 8 will be declared on the basis of the theory exams alone.
