A total of 295 students and 28 teachers from seven schools attended the ‘One Week One Lab’ at CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute.

NEW DELHI: The CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CGCRI), Kolkata,conducted a school connect programme on August 25 under the Under the ‘One Week One Lab’ Campaign.
The CGCRI said the programme was intended to promote scientific temper among school students and encourage them to pursue research in different scientific domains. Director of CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute KJ Sreeram was chief guest on the occasion.

He highlighted the role of CSIR in nation-building activities. Director of CSIR – Indian Institute of Chemical Biology Arun Bandyopadhyay was the guest of honour. He inspired the students to pursue science for the best interest of the nation.
SK Mishra, director CSIR-CGCRI, welcomed the participants. Around 295 students and 28 teachers from seven schools attended the event. Participant schools included Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dumdum, St. Xaviers Institution, Laxmipat Singhania School, Silver Point School, Mukul Bose Memorial School, Jadavpur High School, and The Summit School.
The CGCRI organised different scientific activities, including lectures, live interactive sessions, different product demonstrations of CSIR-CGCRI, scientific quizzes, virtual lab platforms, and others, for the participants. Scientists working in different fields also showcased CGCRI's various advanced technologies to the students.
‘One Week, One Lab’ initiative is a nationwide campaign to showcase the technological breakthroughs and innovations in the CSIR labs. It is a theme-based campaign of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research. It aims to ignite the minds of young innovators, students, start-ups, academia ad industry to look for opportunities through deep tech ventures.
Under the programme various institutes of CSIR, one after the other in every successive week, showcase their exclusive innovations and technological breakthroughs to the public.
