CSIR NET unlikely to be held in July 2021 due to COVID-19 crisis

NEW DELHI: The Human Resource Development Group (HRDG), a division of CSIR, has announced in a tweet that conducting the CSIR-NET exam in July 2021 seems “unlikely". We will give a clear notice of 2 months when the situation improves,” the official tweet read. The decision was taken due to the second wave of the COVID-19, which is on a rise. The pandemic in its second sweep, has already added to the cancellation of various government recruitment exams.

What is the CSIR UGC NET exam?

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR UGC NET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency twice a year, the exam concerned is of the December 2020 session, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The exam is conducted to determine eligibility ‘for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship/Assistant Professor’ in Indian colleges and universities.

CSIR UGC NET: Eligibility criteria

Candidates with masters in science (MSc) or equivalent degree with the minimum age limit of 28 years can apply for the CSIR UGC NET exam. The exam is conducted in online mode.

CSIR UGC NET exam pattern 2021

The CSIR UGC NET exam is conducted in computer-based online mode and candidates have to answer multiple-choice questions. The time duration is three hours and the medium of the paper is English and Hindi. CSIR UGC NET total marks are 200, with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CSIR UGC NET question paper will be based on chemical science, earth science, life science, mathematics science and physical science. The questions will be divided in the ratio of 20:40:60 divided respectively in for parts section A, B, C.
